Athletic Trainer
Wes
Richardson has been Russellville's athletic trainer for over 10
years. He is a licensed certified athletic trainer employed by
the North Alabama Bone & Joint Clinic in Florence, and is
provided to the Golden Tigers at no cost to our school system.
At the North Alabama Bone & Joint Clinic, Wes and other athletic
trainers work under the supervision of eight physicians,
providing sports medicine services to many Shoals area schools.
His primary responsibility at Russellville is to prevent
athletic injuries and to properly manage them when they do
occur, functioning in the following domains:

Rehabilitation and Reconditioning

Organization and Administration

Professional Responsibility
He also works
very closely with Harry Kuberg, M.D., the team physician for the
Golden Tigers.
Wes is a 1989
graduate of Deshler High School, where he played football under
Coach Tandy Gerelds. He earned his B.S. Degree in Athletic
Training from the University of Alabama in 1993, and his MAEd.
degree in physical education with a teaching certificate from
the University of North Alabama in 1996. While at Alabama and
UNA, he worked with three national championship football teams
(Alabama in 1992, and UNA in 1994 and 1995). He is also a state
licensed Emergency Medical Technician (Basic level) and a Basic
Life Support Instructor through the American Heart Association.
