Wes Richardson, MAEd., ATC, LAT, LEMT-B

Head Athletic Trainer

Wes Richardson has been Russellville's athletic trainer for over 10 years.  He is a licensed certified athletic trainer employed by the North Alabama Bone & Joint Clinic in Florence, and is provided to the Golden Tigers at no cost to our school system.  At the North Alabama Bone & Joint Clinic, Wes and other athletic trainers work under the supervision of eight physicians, providing sports medicine services to many Shoals area schools.  His primary responsibility at Russellville is to prevent athletic injuries and to properly manage them when they do occur, functioning in the following domains:

  • Prevention

  • Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis

  • Immediate Care

  • Treatment, Rehabilitation and Reconditioning

  • Organization and Administration

  • Professional Responsibility

He also works very closely with Harry Kuberg, M.D., the team physician for the Golden Tigers.

Wes is a 1989 graduate of Deshler High School, where he played football under Coach Tandy Gerelds.  He earned his B.S. Degree in Athletic Training from the University of Alabama in 1993, and his MAEd. degree in physical education with a teaching certificate from the University of North Alabama in 1996.  While at Alabama and UNA, he worked with three national championship football teams (Alabama in 1992, and UNA in 1994 and 1995).  He is also a state licensed Emergency Medical Technician (Basic level) and a Basic Life Support Instructor through the American Heart Association.

Wes can be reached at wrichardson@nabjc.com, or by cell phone at 256-366-1639.
